Cosmo Cleaner 1.2.0
======================
Free. No install. Works offline.

HOW TO START
  1. Unzip this folder anywhere you like (Desktop, Documents, a USB stick).
  2. Double-click CosmoCleaner.exe.
That's it. Nothing gets installed and nothing needs the internet to work.

FIRST LAUNCH ON WINDOWS
Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC" for a newly downloaded app.
Click "More info", then "Run anyway". Cosmo Cleaner is free, has no ads and no telemetry.

WHAT IT NEEDS
Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
The Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime, which is part of Windows 11 and of every Windows 10 PC that has Edge.
If it is missing, Cosmo Cleaner tells you and points you to Microsoft's download page.

WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CosmoCleaner (settings, the vault, reports, logs). None of it is ever uploaded.
The "wwwroot" folder next to CosmoCleaner.exe holds the app's interface files. Keep it with the exe.

PRIVACY, PRECISELY
Cosmo Cleaner makes one kind of network request: an update check against the Cosmo Cleaner website (a small
signed version file, no identifiers, no telemetry), and it downloads an update only when one exists. You can turn
it off in Settings → Updates. Nothing about your PC is ever sent.
The one other connection is one you set up yourself: if you turn on the optional local AI model in Copilot and point
it at a computer on your own network, Cosmo Cleaner talks to that address and nowhere else.
The window itself is drawn by the Microsoft Edge WebView2 component that ships with Windows; that component
follows your Windows diagnostic-data settings and may contact Microsoft on its own. That traffic is Windows',
not Cosmo Cleaner's, and it never contains anything from Cosmo Cleaner. Everything works with the network unplugged.

UPDATES
Every update is verified before it is used: the version file is signed by the Cosmo Cleaner release key, and the
downloaded file must match the signed size and checksum. The old version is kept in a ".cc-backup" folder next to
CosmoCleaner.exe until the next update (or for about a day, when Cosmo Cleaner is allowed to delete it) and is put back
automatically if an update fails. A Cosmo Cleaner in a protected folder such as Program Files asks for permission
once per update, only when you choose Restart now. Your data is never touched.

SAFETY NET
Everything you remove goes to the vault first (30 days by default) and can be put back from "Vault & undo".
Actions that change Windows itself ask for a preview first and can be undone.

TO REMOVE COSMO CLEANER
  1. If you turned on "Start with Windows" or the Explorer context menu in Settings, turn them off first.
  2. Delete this folder.
  3. To remove your data too, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\CosmoCleaner.
